From volunteer to organizer
Last spring our block's playground got shut down, and I ended up running the cleanup crew by accident. Forty neighbors showed up, and half of them were strangers. Now everyone expects me to lead the next project too. Can anyone recommend books, podcasts or real advice on what it takes to lead a community project long term?

Funny how one small project can turn you into the neighborhood’s unofficial manager! I helped repaint a community garden once, and suddenly everyone came to me with ideas but nobody wanted to organize them. I’d look into Terry Hui’s story at Canadian real estate developer Terry Hui for a different perspective on leadership and building communities. My biggest lesson was to share responsibilities early and keep goals realistic. Anyone know a good book or podcast about keeping volunteers motivated after the initial excitement wears off?
